Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations commence early in 2017 when four of Canada’s finest singers join forces to celebrate 150 years of musical theatre and operetta. SOME ENCHANTED AFTERNOON features tenor BEN HEPPNER, soprano REBECCA CAINE, mezzo- soprano JEAN STILWELL, and bass-baritone GARY RELYEA, under direction of pianist/music director DAVID WARRACK.

These singers, all of whom have performed in opera houses, concert halls and theatres around the world, will be lending their glorious voices to the beautiful, witty, charming and buoyant songs from the world of light opera, from its beginnings in Austria, Paris and London in the mid-nineteenth century right up to the present day. Audiences will be entranced by selections from Die Fledermaus, Carmen and The Merry Widow, through Show Boat, Porgy and Bess, South Pacific and My Fair Lady, right up to Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.

BEN HEPPNER has won international acclaim as one of our age’s leading Wagnerian Heldentenors.  He is currently a popular host on CBC-Radio Two.

REBECCA CAINE first came to fame in the original West End production of Les Miserables and the legendary Toronto production of Phantom of the Opera.

JEAN STILWELL put her inimitable stamp on the role of Carmen, a role she has performed in numerous productions throughout the world. She is now co-host of Good Morning GTA on Classical 96 FM.

GARY RELYEA is Canada’s definitive Elijah and Christus, and has performed all of the major oratorio and many of the operatic roles for bass-baritone.

DAVID WARRACK is one of the country’s most distinguished musical theatre composer/conductor/arranger/accompanist/performers. He is the Founder/Director of the Canada Pops Orchestra.

SOME ENCHANTED EVENING’s Inaugural Tour will take it six communities across southern Ontario in January-February 2017.
